We began developing MIDAS in 2016, applying it to US-Mexico mobility and to sea level rise responses in Bangladesh. MIDAS is an agent-based model of livelihoods decision-making and mobility that drew initially on push-pull-mooring theory (PPM), and has expanded to capture key dimensions of capabilities & aspirations (C&A) and place attachment (PA) as important theory dimensions of mobility decision-making.

MIDAS can be applied to specific country contexts and validated on specific datasets, or it can be run in an abstract, theory testing and exploration mode.
