SharedSpace is an n-player game, within which land cells in a grid can be assigned to one or more players to simulate private, semi-private, or community land use rights. Land cells may be cultivated or fallowed, with successive cultivation reducing soil productivity, eventually requiring some fallow period before cultivation will again lead to high yields. In this framework, game experiments may examine the interaction of encouragements (such as subsidies) and property rights on landscape-scale properties like production and inequality.
